John Lawrie Group is delighted to have been awarded the internationally recognised OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management certification.

The accreditation follows a rigorous external audit of the company’s policies and practices. The process included detailed workplace inspections, interviews and samples of operations to ensure robust procedures are followed to identify, control and minimise risk.

The BS OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management system was developed in response to widespread demand for a recognised standard of certification and assessment to control occupational health and safety risks. It helps to reduce workplace accidents and illness, cutting related costs and downtime, helps engage and motivate staff with better and safer working conditions, and demonstrates compliance to clients and suppliers.

Welcoming the news, John Lawrie Group’s Environmental Director, Ray Grant, said: "Meeting the requirements of this system demonstrates John Lawrie Group’s continued commitment to our employee's health and safety, aligned with the requirements of our clients and other stakeholders for process safety management.

“Best health and safety practice has always been at the heart of our company and we are delighted that our work has been recognised with this accreditation. It gives our valued clients even more confidence in our services, and reminds our colleagues of the seriousness with which we treat their safety.”

The OHSAS 18001 accreditation adds to John Lawrie Group’s existing management system accreditations which include ISO 14001 and 9001.
