As 2016 draws to close, John Lawrie Group is reflecting on a positive period of continuous development and improving levels of service at its full-service pipe facility in Montrose.

This year, the company unveiled its new inspection building at the Forties Road yard following a £100,000 investment. The purpose-built covered facility will be used as an area for the full inspection of pipe before the delivery to the customer.

With all inspection facilities now housed under cover, staff will be fully protected from any inclement weather conditions allowing a much more comfortable and efficient service.

The construction of the inspection building follows the installation of a bespoke saw line production facility for the processing of casing pipe. John Lawrie Group invested in excess of £500,000 in the new facility which includes two new saws and a completely automated production line. A new enclosure has also been constructed to house the saw line system which will mainly supply pipe for the piling construction industry.

Iain Laing, director of John Lawrie Group’s Tubular Division, says; “This latest investment in a new inspection facility will help to deliver a more efficient experience to our customers and service their ever more diverse needs.

“As one of the leading suppliers to the piling industry, John Lawrie Tubulars is fully committed to continual investment in new equipment and systems which fully comply with our tight health and safety requirements.”
