Football fans visiting Culter's FC's ground this season have benefitted from new facilities thanks to Aberdeen-based John Lawrie Group.

The metal reprocessing, steel trading and environmental services company has sponsored a new 50-seat covered stand at Crombie Park. It became involved in the project following an approach from Culter’s chairman about providing steel to construct a new stand.

Realising that the new stand would become an important fixture at the ground John Lawrie Group decided to purchase a new purpose-built, covered stand and donate it to the club. The enhanced facilities at Crombie Park have been well received by club supporters, providing spectators with some much needed shelter during inclement weather and a bit of shade when the sun has shone.

It has been a busy and successful season for the Peterculter team. The club retained the PMAC Superleague title for the second consecutive year and with it qualification into next season’s Scottish Cup. In this season’s Scottish Cup campaign Culter reached the third round where they faced League Two Berwick Rangers. A 1-1 draw at home earned them a replay which the English side won 3-1.

The club also recorded a memorable trophy treble. After lifting the PMAC Superleague trophy the team won the Macbookie.com McLeman Cup, defeating Maud 2-1 in the final. They then went on to beat Banks O’Dee 4-2 on penalties to win the Domino’s Pizza North Regional Trophy.

John Lawrie Group operations director Dave Weston said: “One of our employees plays for Culter and it was because of this that the club chairman approached us about a new stand. John Lawrie Group is very pleased to contribute to Culter FC by sponsoring this new facility and in turn supporting junior football here in north-east Scotland.

“The addition of the 50-seat stand helps to improve the spectator facilities at Crombie Park, ensuring fans of all ages have more comfortable surroundings in which to cheer on their team. Culter has had an incredible run this season and we wish them all the best for next season, especially in their Scottish Cup campaign.”
