Scottish football team Montrose FC has kicked off the new season with the continued support of Scottish metal reprocessing, steel trading and environmental services firm John Lawrie Group.

The company, which has a long association with Montrose having operated its metal recycling and processing facility in the Angus town for many years, is once again the League Two side’s home shirt sponsor.

This is the third year that the Aberdeen-based firm has backed The Gable Endies. After sponsoring the team’s away strip in the 2012-13 season the firm became sponsors of the home strip last season and its logo will continue to adorn the home strip until July 2015.

Montrose started its 2014-15 season with a 4-1 win at home to East Stirling on Saturday, 09 August, and followed that up with a 2-0 victory at home to Annan Athletic a fortnight later. The side currently sit fifth in the table with a game in hand against Clyde.

Ahead of the new season kicking off the club strengthened its team by signing five new players. The Links Park side finished last season mid table after a solid performance, but will be looking to improve on that during the 2014-15 season.

John Lawrie Group financial director Charlie Parker said: “We are very pleased to once again be the shirt sponsor for all of Montrose FC’s home ties. John Lawrie Group has a long association with Montrose and it is great that we continue to cement that through this sponsorship.

“The team and its fans are great ambassadors for the town, the club and its sponsors. We have witnessed over the past two seasons the positive benefits that being connected with a football team can bring. All of the team at John Lawrie Group wishes the Gable Endies every success in their 2014-15 campaign and look forward to following their success.”
