John Lawrie Group Tees Off Sponsorship Agreement with Paul Lawrie Foundation

Scottish metal reprocessor and steel trading company, John Lawrie Group, has extended its support for sport throughout the north-east of Scotland by becoming a sponsor of the Paul Lawrie Foundation. Established in 2001 by former British Open winner Paul Lawrie, the Foundation provides opportunities for juniors of any age to start playing golf, compete at golf and improve their capabilities.

As a sponsor, John Lawrie Group will help the Foundation maintain its place as one of the leading sports programmes for young people in Scotland. In addition to its original aim of supporting and sustaining an interest and enthusiasm for the game of golf among youngsters, the Foundation has extended its activities to include other sports such as football, rugby, hockey and curling.

“The John Lawrie Group has great pleasure in supporting the activities of the Paul Lawrie Foundation,” says Charlie Parker, Group financial director. “The Foundation gives many young people access to sporting tuition and events that they might otherwise miss out on. We look forward to helping the Foundation in its endeavours to encourage more youngsters to get involved in sport and to nurture potential local talent.”

Paul Lawrie FoundationThe Paul Lawrie Foundation is the latest beneficiary of John Lawrie Group’s long-standing support for sport in the area. The Aberdeen-based organisation has an additional sponsorship agreement in place with Montrose Football Club and has also provided London 2012 Olympic finalist, Hannah Miley, with support during her swimming career.

Established in Aberdeen in the 1930s, John Lawrie Group is now one of the UK’s foremost scrap metal reprocessors and steel trading companies. The firm provides a diverse range of industrial services and employs over 100 people at various locations round the world.
