John Lawrie Group has recently increased the security levels at two of its Scottish sites after investing in a new CCTV system. The Aberdeen-based firm, which is one of the UK’s leading metal reprocessing, steel trading and environmental services companies, called upon Scottish Communications Group (SCG) to install the system at its Evanton and Montrose sites.

The firm had previously used Perth-based SCG to install a CCTV system at its headquarters in Aberdeen’s Greenbank Road and was keen to expand its CCTV coverage to include its Ross-shire and Angus operations.

SCG installed an IP CCTV system at both Scottish sites which in turn were linked back to John Lawrie Group’s main Aberdeen office allowing full control, monitoring and playback of images. The system, which also utilises wireless technology, includes both fixed and pan-tilt-zoom cameras, with some located on the top of the frag scrap metal processing machinery to allow all operations to be monitored.

In addition to allowing personnel in the Aberdeen office to monitor operations at both the Evanton and Montrose facilities without having to travel to the sites, the system enables health and safety practices to be observed and has increased security levels.
