Aberdeen-based scrap metal reprocessor, steel trading and environmental services company, John Lawrie Group, have given an aspiring local golfer the opportunity to tour professionally.

The group have signed a two-year deal to sponsor Nick Reid, a recent golf management graduate and PGA member, who has been attached to Deeside Golf Club in Aberdeenshire for the last eight years.

The deal, which will allow Nick to par ticipate in tours such as the PGA Tartan Tour schedule, will cover travel and tournament expenses.

Nick Reid said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Securing sponsorship of this magnitude will allow me to tour, I would like thank the John Lawrie Group enormously for their support. I have always dreamt of one day playing on the European Tour, but teaching full time whilst studying for my PGA qualification has left me with limited time to play golf. Given this opportunity to play professionally, you just never know what is possible.”
