Following a recent audit, John Lawrie Group has maintained its Achilles First Point Assessment (FPAL) Verify status and has increased its score across all four appraisal categories.
Carried out in late July, the rigorous biennial audit evaluated the Aberdeen-based metal reprocessing, tubular supply and decommissioning firm’s performance on quality, health and safety, environmental and competence and training practices. The review saw John Lawrie Group score 35 out of 40 – a 10% increase on the 2016 audit and with improvement shown in all categories.
Achilles FPAL identifies, evaluates and provides prequalification information about suppliers on behalf of 40 major buyers in the oil and gas industry operating across Europe. The Verify scheme was developed by the industry for the industry and aims to raise standards and reduce the burden of repetitive buyer audits by replacing them with one standardised procedure.
Following the two-day verification visit, the results are shared online between FPAL purchasers who participate in the Verify scheme. It provides them with a fair and independent comparison of suppliers.
John Lawrie Group, which specialises in metal recycling and reprocessing, the supply of new and used steel tubulars, and oilfield and industrial decommissioning services, joined the FPAL Verify scheme in 2012 and has made continuous improvement in its scoring during each audit.
