  • CUTTING, PROCESSING AND RECYCLING OF FLEXIBLE FLOWLINES.

John Lawrie is the largest and leading metal recycler and exporter of processed scrap metal in the North and Northeast of Scotland, with strategically located SEPA licenced waste treatment facilities close to quaysides and offering a full range of services. Handling, processing and exporting around 200,000 tonnes per annum, they are ideally placed to offer metal recycling, deconstruction and recycling/disposal services to the oil and gas market.

With sustainability in mind, John Lawrie has been progressively developing their expertise in the processing and recycling of a range of redundant subsea materials, including flexible risers and flowlines, having now handled and processed tens of thousands of tonnes in recent years. The company has successfully developed processing methods resulting in high recovery and recycling rates of both the metallic and non-metallic content of the flowlines, in most cases up to 100%.

The company enjoys excellent working relationships with a number of Port Authorities throughout the North and Northeast of Scotland. Consequently, they are well positioned to collect and/or receive redundant materials from a variety of geographic locations. With their fleet of specialist trucks, lifting, cutting and processing equipment, most projects are provided under one integrated package.

”Handling, processing and exporting around 200,000 tonnes per annum…“

The recycling process, which is predominately mechanical, involves separating the various metallic and non-metallic layers of the flowlines. The layers are systematically removed thus enabling the component parts to be recycled.
